drawing the outdoors indoors
Paige Rittersbacher is an artist living in Salida, Colorado
Her biggest inspiration is drawn from her time outside. She grew up in Colorado and spent most of her adult life in SW Montana before moving back in 2024. She received her BFA from Montana State University School of Art and Architecture where she learned the craft it takes to be a professional artist, how to seek criticism and feedback, and the bravery it takes to try new things.
Since developing a life-altering, chronic illness in 2021, Paige has been exploring the experience of loving the outdoors from a new distance while losing most of her accessibility to them. She previously loved running, biking, and generally any possible way of moving through mountains. Instead, Paige now utilizes watercolor, gouache, and colored graphite to create vividly detailed works honoring and celebrating our one and only precious planet.
These days, you’ll find her seeking out inspiration from architectural books, pulling tarot cards, teaching at her local ski hill, and spending time with her favorite people and animals.
